PCRMM Webinar: Inequalities in Rheumatology

May 13, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

This webinar on the 13th May 2025, by Sam Bhide and Dr Toby Wallace, will explore the critical issue of health inequalities in rheumatology, addressing the systemic, unfair, and avoidable disparities that affect patient outcomes.

By examining real patient journeys, diagnostic delays, and key barriers to equitable healthcare, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and potential solutions in improving access and outcomes in rheumatological care.

Through case studies and discussion, we will highlight the role of healthcare professionals, policymakers, and the broader healthcare system in mitigating diagnostic delays and ensuring timely, patient-centred care.

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Define health inequalities and recognise their impact in rheumatology
  • Identify key barriers that contribute to diagnostic delays in conditions like RA, Lupus, and Axial SpA
  • Analyse patient journeys and pinpoint opportunities for earlier intervention
  • Understand the role of AHPs and healthcare professionals in tackling disparities
  • Explore quality improvement strategies to enhance access to rheumatology care
  • Recognise the importance of policy, workforce expansion, and advocacy in addressing health inequalities
