The PCRMM provides the primary care team perspective and voice. We understand the challenges of delivering good quality patient care in the high pressure primary care environment.

Our aims are to

  • Improve knowledge of musculoskeletal & rheumatology disorders in primary care
  • Improve & maintain standards of care provided for patients
  • Develop educational standards for providers of musculoskeletal medicine & rheumatology
  • Build effective partnerships with other providers of musculoskeletal & rheumatology care
  • Participate in guideline and service development to ensure the primary care perspective is heard
  • Support research into MSK and rheumatological conditions

Provide support and mentorship for those primary care clinicians wishing to develop a special interest or extended role.

Support

We are a friendly society connecting like-minded primary care clinicians able to offer much needed support in the challenging clinical environment.

Education

PCRMM members have access to state of the art prosthetic limbs for practicing and teaching joint and soft tissue injections.

Help with clinical dilemmas

Our friendly and experienced members are happy to share their clinical expertise.

Career advice

We are happy to advise on courses and career pathways for primary care clinicians keen on developing a special interest in rheumatology or musculoskeletal medicine.

Research

We have links with Keele University and can offer advice to those with an interest in becoming involved in rheumatology and MSK research.

Influence guidelines and policy

PCRMM works with external organisation e.g. NICE and ARMA to provide the primary care perspective for guideline and policy development in rheumatology and musculoskeletal medicine. No other society uniquely represents primary care in this sphere.

Influence career development

PCRMM is involved in helping promote the future roles of doctors, physiotherapists and allied health professions in rheumatology and MSK provision in primary care.

Be part of history

The PCRMM was the first primary care special interest society in the world.
