Philip Conaghan

Professor Philip Conaghan MBBS PhD FRACP FRCP is Director of the multi-disease themed NIHR Leeds Biomedical Research Centre and is Professor of Musculoskeletal Medicine at the University of Leeds.

Philip has been a Trustee for PCRMM since 2017. As well as being a practicing rheumatologist, his academic programme focuses on understanding the causes of, and developing effective therapies for, common joint problems. He is a EULAR methodologist and Deputy Chair of the international outcomes group OMERACT. He previously chaired NICE osteoarthritis clinical guidance committees.

Philip Conaghan has co-authored over 700 publications as original research, reviews and book chapters. He has received multiple international research awards including the Carol Nachman award for Rheumatology, the OARSI Clinical Research award and the Elise Jourdevant prize.
