Louise Warburton

Dr. Louise Warburton is co-president of the Primary Care Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Medicine Society (PCRMM). Graduating from Manchester University in 1985, Dr. Warburton obtained the Diploma in Musculoskeletal Medicine in 2009 and is a Fellow of both the Royal College of General Practitioners and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

Currently serving as a GPwER in Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Medicine for Shropshire Community NHS Trust, Dr. Warburton is also the Medical Lead for Telford MKS service. In addition to her clinical roles, she holds the position of Associate Medical Director for Shropshire Community NHS Trust with a focus on research. Dr. Warburton is a Joint Specialty Lead for Research in the Community for the Clinical Research Network in the West Midlands.

Actively engaged in research at Keele University, she holds the title of Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer. Dr. Warburton is a Primary Care Adviser for Versus Arthritis and was recently a trustee of ARMA. Notably, she was part of the Guidelines Development Group who prepared the NICE Guidelines for the Management of Rheumatoid Arthritis in Adults and Guidelines for Spondyloarthropathy, and has recently been awarded the “Gold Changemaker” award from the NASS for her work improving the lives of those affected by axial SpAAs. As co-president of PCRMM, Dr. Warburton now serves as the Education Lead for the society and has edited a textbook of musculoskeletal disorders for Primary Care as part of the Royal College of General Practitioners’ curriculum series.

Dr. Warburton has organised MSK conferences for the RCGP and Keele University, as well as being a speaker at PULSE LIVE and Best Practice conferences. Previously, Dr. Warburton served as the Medical Editor of Hands On for ARUK.
