Hi Deena,

In my experience only a Rheumatologist can diagnose a patient with hypermobility spectrum disorder or hypermobile ehlers danlos syndrome which would require special circumstances or extra support in activities etc. I am a physiotherapist who currently works with hypermobility and that is my experience. The Beighton scale is not a great diagnostic tool, there was a recent paper on this which was quite interesting. I imagine a full work up would need to be done to rule out other causes if the girl has multiple sites of pain.

Thanks,

Aisling
