Tuesday 9th May 2023. 7 – 8.30pm
Our May webinar is a very topical subject – environmental issues are of huge importance. The good news is that the actions we need to take to tackle the climate crisis also have significant benefits for patients’ health, as well as the potential to boost staff morale and save money.
Given by Dr Katrina Davies, one of the directors of Greener Practice, the UK’s primary care sustainability network, it will consist of a general introduction to the health impacts of the climate and ecological emergency, the Greener NHS, sustainable healthcare principles and sustainable QI. We’ll consider active travel, air pollution, heatwave adaptation and the effects of medicines and the ocean.
The webinar will include breakout rooms for idea generation about how sustainable healthcare principles can be adopted and followed in MSK practice
Katrina Davies is a GP in Solihull and has an interest in sustainable healthcare, frailty, falls prevention and physical activity in older people. She’s a climate rep for the RCGP Midland faculty, was co-lead for green issues at the British Geriatric Society and just completed a masters in Frailty and Integrated Care. She works for OHID as a Physical Activity Clinical Champion and is one of the new RCGP Net Zero primary care advisors, but most of her time is spent raising awareness of sustainable healthcare through the Greener Practice network, locally and nationally.
