Trustee Vacancy

by PCRMM Society
on 6th April 2020

The PCRMM is a small, long-established charity being the first primary care society in the world.  Despite major changes over its 30 plus year history the society’s objectives are still relevant, aiming to improve knowledge and standards of care within the primary care team for rheumatological, musculoskeletal and pain conditions to the benefit of patients.

We are looking for a trustee to join our organisation as we look to expand, and advance our aims. It is not necessary to have been a trustee before, and help with necessary training will be provided.

You would be working alongside the existing trustees, with close links to the charity executive.

We are looking primarily for an enthusiastic individual with a willingness to learn and adapt, according to the needs of the charity. Ideally, we are also seeking particular skills in some or all of the following areas:

  • Financial and business experience
  • HR experience
  • Ability to strategise and advise on the future development of the charity
  • Ability to work alongside, oversee and motivate other members of the team
  • Experience with social media and communications and PR
  • Fund raising experience

As a Trustee, and member of the Board, you will share collective responsibility for the overall strategic direction, organisational effectiveness and financial accountability in line with the Charity’s objectives.

The role is very rewarding, but also hard work and a real commitment. You will need to be an excellent team player with effective communication skills and have the drive necessary to help lead the charity.

The position is unpaid, but you will be reimbursed for any reasonable expenses incurred.

Trustees are required to:

  • Attend monthly Trustee tele/video-conferences at a mutually agreed time
  • Attend other charity meetings, remotely or face to face where required
  • Spend time getting to know the work of the charity and its key members
  • Advise on financial matters
  • Attend the PCRMM Annual Conference (this year 12 – 14 Nov 2020)
  • Become familiar with the legal obligations and responsibilities of a trustee through self-directed learning and attendance at relevant courses

If you are looking for an opportunity to give something back to your community, help people affected by rheumatology, musculoskeletal or pain conditions and are interested in your own personal development, you could be ideal for this role.

Priority will be given to applicants with financial, HR and fundraising experience.
