It has long been recognised that some form of quality assurance would be beneficial for those NHS GPs working in extended roles beyond their core training. The RCGP has in fact already provided a generic framework for GPs working in extended roles (GPwERs).

PCRMM is proud to be part of an MSK/rheumatology taskforce, along with members of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine and British association of Sports and Exercise Medicine  with the aim of working with the RCGP to develop an accreditation pathway for GPwERs in MSK and rheumatology. The plan being to align with the Advanced Practice work of Health Education England.
